January 2026 Roundup II 🥇

Mother Nature's playing tricks, the Rallon is winning awards, and trails keep calling!

Howdy friends!

February is nearly here, and Central Oregon weather is doing that thing where it just can’t decide. We got a little snow in January, then it melted, then we had a week that felt like spring, and now who knows what’s coming next! It’s the kind of winter that keeps you guessing, but hey, that’s why we live here, right?

Now that things have slowed a bit in the shop, we’ve shifted gears. January is our time for off-season projects, advanced technical training and certifications, and staying sharp on the latest bike and e-bike technology—so we’re fully ready for spring.

In this edition, we’ve also got some seriously exciting news about Orbea (spoiler: awards were won!), some COTA updates, and all the shop news you need to know.

Let’s roll!

The Orbea Rallon Has Arrived!

We’re thrilled to announce that Blazin Saddles is now officially an Orbea dealer, and the bikes are starting to arrive from Spain! We’ve already got a couple in the shop, with more on the way.

And here’s the big news: the Orbea Rallon was just crowned Mountain Bike of the Year in the 2025 Pinkbike Awards!

This is HUGE. Jacob already has one on order for himself, and since becoming an Orbea dealer we’ve sold nine Orbea bikes—every single rider has been absolutely loving them. The Rallon is a do-it-all, long-travel enduro bike that can handle everything from technical climbs to bike park laps. When Tahnée Seagrave won a World Cup Downhill race on the Rallon’s debut, it proved what reviewers already knew: this bike rips.

Orbea Rallon

What makes the Rallon special?

The innovative GravityLink system lets you configure the same frame for enduro (170mm rear/180mm fork) or downhill duty by swapping color-coded links. Three flip-chip positions adjust progression by 5%, and an angle-adjusting headset allows you to dial in your preferred geometry. It’s a bike that adapts to how YOU want to ride.

Plus, Orbea offers custom paint at no extra charge! Come talk about your next dream bike—we’re stoked to help you build something special.

Check out the Orbea Rise too! Our friend Nick Gibson recently put the lightweight Rise through its paces in the Cascades, and it’s the perfect e-bike for our local trails—especially now that multiple trails have been approved for Class 1 e-bikes in Central Oregon.

Dream E-MTBs: Order Now for Spring

If a new e-MTB is on your wish list, now is the time to plan ahead so your bike is ready for prime Central Oregon riding. With recent price increases due to tariffs and more expected, our crystal ball says prices won’t be lower this spring or summer than they are right now.

Some of the exciting models we carry include:

  • Orbea Rise (entry-level and high-end specs)

  • Santa Cruz Vala

  • AMFLOW PL Carbon

  • Orbea Muga

Talk to us about pricing, specs, and availability—we’re happy to help you find the perfect ride.

AMFLOW: Our Newest E-MTB Brand

With many riders starting to think about their next e-bike, we’ve been intentional about offering only the best of the best. In addition to adding Orbea—a top-notch brand in both acoustic and electric bikes—we’re excited to welcome AMFLOW to the Blazin Saddles lineup.

Powered by cutting-edge technology from drone manufacturer DJI, AMFLOW e-mountain bikes are winning awards left and right. They’re lightweight, powerful, great value, and feature impressive motor and battery technology that delivers all the range and performance you need. Simply put—this bike gives the competition a serious run for its money.

AMFLOW PL

We currently have one AMFLOW PL in stock—come check it out before it’s gone!

Sno Park Permits Available!

Daily or Annual Sno Park permits are now available at the shop! Don’t let parking issues keep you from enjoying Central Oregon’s winter wonderland. Stop by and get your permit so you can hit the parks with confidence.

Holiday Bike Drive: A Year to Remember

Our Blazin Saddles Holiday Bike Drive wrapped up another successful and heartfelt season. Thanks to our incredible community, dedicated staff, and a program we started back in 2015, we were able to:

  • Donate 30+ bikes and new helmets directly to individuals and families in Sisters

  • Donate 20 bikes to Bicycle Resource of Bend

While it wasn’t our biggest year by numbers, it may have been our most impactful: bringing more joy, gratitude, and emotional moments than ever before. Over the past 11 years, we’ve now donated 600+ bikes to those in need. This is why we do what we do.

Sisters Stampede: OBRA State Championships

Sisters Stampede has been named an OBRA State Championship race! This exciting announcement is being shared tonight on the Sisters Stampede social channels, and we couldn’t be more stoked to see this event reach the next level.

⛏️ COTA Updates

Cline Butte Trails Wrapped Up HUGE Last Fall

Big things wrapped up at Cline Butte last fall, and the results are epic! Thanks to a huge effort from COTA’s dedicated crew of volunteers and their seasonal Trail Builder Katz Tsubai, they built and signed multiple trails just in time for prime winter riding.

This included:

  • DH3 realignment with rebuilt jumps and landings

  • New Eagle Crest climbing trail (now named Cover Charge)

  • New addition to the original XC Trail (now named Legal Eagle)

Cline is feeling more connected, more dynamic, and more fun than ever. With drier conditions, it’s an excellent place to ride in the winter. If you haven’t been out there yet (or it’s been a while), now’s the time to check it out and see what thoughtful stewardship and community-powered trail work can create!

Winter Riding Recommendations in Central Oregon

Mother Nature is playing tricks this winter. We got snow in January, then it melted, then we had a warm spell—now things are just confusing! But the good news is that lower-elevation trails are riding surprisingly well for this time of year.

Here are some winter riding suggestions. Keep in mind that weather changes fast in Central Oregon, and conditions can change quickly:

  • Peterson Ridge, Sisters - All 16+ miles are riding well! East, Middle, and West sections are clear. This is one of the best Sisters-area options right now.

  • Cline Butte, Redmond - Check out those new trails we mentioned! The DH3 realignment, Cover Charge climbing trail, and Legal Eagle are all dialed. With drier conditions, it’s perfect for winter riding.

  • Maston, Redmond - This is the classic spot to ride in the winter. You’re practically guaranteed to run into someone you know. Caution: it can get muddy on the inner trails—use your judgment, ride dirt not mud! Pairs beautifully with a stop at The Bite in Tumalo for food trucks and brews after.

  • Barnes Butte, Prineville - If winter fitness is on your mind, Barnes Butte delivers big elevation in a surprisingly short distance. It’s the go-to spot for hill training when higher elevations are buried in snow. Looking for something more mellow? Check out Calumet, a 2-mile trail that winds through the meadow at the base of the Butte—perfect for families or a warm-up.

  • East Hills, Madras - If you’re looking to get out on your Class 1 pedal-assist e-bike, this is a great spot! There are 14 miles of trails to explore from green to black. You’ll be treated to gorgeous views of Mt. Jefferson and enjoy arguably the warmest temps in the region during winter.

COTA Year-End Fundraising Results

COTA wrapped up their annual end-of-year fundraising campaign with incredible results! Through 1,814 individual gifts, the trail community helped raise $248,021 toward their $250,000 goal.

This funding goes directly toward powering trail stewardship, new trail projects, and rider education programs across Central Oregon. Every gift keeps trails maintained, provides equipment and training for volunteers, and ultimately is an investment in the Central Oregon mountain bike experience.

📺 Must Watch: Orbea Rallon RS Launch Video

Okay sorry for this newsletter being so E-Bike focused, but just one more bike to intro! Orbea just dropped their latest E-Bike offering this week: the Rallon RS. It’s an E-Bike for non-E-Bikers with assistance being a just a bit more than a tailwind, and weights being much less than a traditional E-Bike. Watch the launch video to learn more:

Thanks for rolling through this month’s Roundup! February is shaping up to be an interesting month weather-wise, but that’s what makes Central Oregon special. You never know what you’re going to get! Lower-elevation trails are riding well, the Orbea Rallon is getting the recognition it deserves, and COTA continues to do incredible work for our trail system.

If something sparked a question, or you’ve got a photo or story to share, hit reply or give us a call. We love hearing from you.

Keep those bikes maintained, layer up for those confusing weather days, and we’ll see you on the trails or in the shop soon!
